Choosing the Right Tanning Lotions

Everyone would like to have that beautiful and healthy looking Californian tan.  If you worship the sun, then protecting your skin from its UV rays should be on top of the list.  When one considers prolonged exposure to the sun, how it destroys skin cells, and increases the risk of skin cancer, protecting your skin from UV rays becomes even more paramount.

With the arrival of summer and its associated outdoor activities, having your weekend barbeque or heading to the pool will undoubtedly expose you to the sun, so why not get a beautiful tan while at it!  Moisturizing your skin before and after tanning is essential but choosing the right tanning lotion is one of the key ingredients to maintaining a beautiful and looking healthy tan. Moisturizing, protecting and having a healthy glowing tan go hand in hand!

There are several methods to obtain a tan, such as sessions on a tanning bed, basking in the sun on a hot beach, and the third alternative of sunless tanning.  Tanning beds and sunless tanning are options for a busy lifestyle, but just about everyone loves the sun and considering that we are all exposed to it in one way or another, protecting against its more harmful side should be on top of the list.  Whatever your chosen method, lotions will play a key factor, especially after sun lotions.

When exposed to the sun, damage to the skin cannot only be dangerous but irreversible.  Therefore it is essential to use high quality lotions when tanning as they prevent UV absorption in the skin.  When the layers of the dermis gets UV exposure without the proper protection, it can lead to loss of nutrients, moisture, and vitamins.  The results of this and constant sun-burning can lead to tired, damaged looking skin.

Protecting your skin with the right tanning lotion will prevent the signs of premature aging such as sagging, wrinkles and dry flaking skin.

The right tanning lotion should offer moisturizing properties; some will also provide essential oils needed for the skin’s nourishment and recovery from the UV rays.  Products can also contain minerals and vitamins which protect by absorbing deeper at all levels.  Aromatherapy is an added benefit to the main concern of maintaining skin health, and choosing the right lotion for your skin type is essential.  Doing so will lead to a better balance of well being inside, as your body will not have to work harder to compensate for skin damage due to sun exposure without the right protection.

Your skin cells constantly regenerate and renew, so protecting them makes sense.  Choosing the right tanning lotion for your protection is not only logical, but the best way to avoid damaged and decayed cells, helping to reduce the risk of cancers and burning.

The sun gives off two different types of UV radiation.  One is UVA, which penetrates deep into the layers of the dermis to tan melanin granules.  UVB rays on the other hand do not penetrate as deeply and are the primary cause of burning the outer levels of skin.  Therefore, when choosing tanning lotions make sure that it is the best tanning lotion you can get, and it is worth remembering that quality often comes at a higher price.  Try to avoid the mistake of going for the cheaper alternatives as you may not be doing your skin any favors for the future.
